This year’s campaign for the BBC Symphony Orchestra’s Barbican series sees our focus turn to the people at the heart of the experience: the musicians and their star conductor, Sakari Oramo.

Working with photographer Josh Shinner we created a series of quickfire multiple exposure images that create a captivating snapshot of music in motion. Slow, graceful arcs, such as the conductor’s baton during a string section, have an evenly spaced, almost mathematical feel, whilst the more chaotic movements of the xylophone being played are beautifully manic.

The images are paired with strong black & white typography and pastel colours, flowing across the wider campaign to give an overall sense of absolute focus.
