Notch is the 3D motion tool used by the biggest names in music, from Beyoncé to BTS. With a new version of the software, it was time to shift perceptions, from expert-only kit to a mass-market motion engine. We built a design language and digital experience to showcase the awesome power of Notch and the way it inspires limitless creative expression for all.
While Notch’s real-time rendering creates stunning live shows for the biggest global stars, a new software release offered the chance to expand into film & TV, corporate events and virtual production. Using the signature node graph creator, it’s now even simpler to create amazing visuals, whatever your level of experience. This brand idea shows how Notch pushes every artist to create without limits.
This boundless feeling comes from how surprisingly intuitive Notch is to create with. Creating impact and immersion, the brand design language shifts and springs, expands and contracts. Vibrant colour schemes compete for attention, with contrasting typography styles creating a sense of tension and stored energy.
The core of the design system reflects the unique feel of the Notch product, which is controlled through the node graphic visualiser. This gave us a language to inform every level of the experience, from large interactions and layouts, down to buttons, tabs and labels. With a technical and intuitive feel, this builds to a system which feels distinct to Notch.
The Notch digital experience had to match the excitement of creating on the platform. Feature pages show how simple it is for users to ‘make anything’ and #MadeWithNotch shows off the wealth of work created by the community, while industry use cases communicate the commercial potential of the product for different sectors.
Exemplifying Notch’s ‘punk’ spirit, the brand lives in the real world beyond the screen. This merch helps creators to share their allegiance to the brand, while increasing its visibility in the settings where people are using the product.
