Commenting on the event, he said “It was very interesting to see this year’s New Blood work up close and free of the crowds. I was very impressed by the general standard and variety and in particular the work of Falmouth, Northumbria and Westminster. These three, in particular, had a real edge in terms of craft and finish, and also conceptually stood out – there are some real stars of the future there.”
Particular highlights for me on the day were:
Lucy Scholes
Incredibly varied image-maker of the highest quality.
Smrithi Krishna Kumar
Excellent typography and identity work with a packaging focus.
Loulou Elliott
Expansive paintings full of muted colour and melancholy.
Matthew Chaplin
VR explorations with a service design angle – an interesting mix of gaming and real-world application.
Iman Sedaghat
Really evocative illustration with a gaming flavour.
